Reducing bearing failures

Corus, Lackenby Steel Works Beam Mill had experienced several catostrophic bearing failures on the static and mobile hot saws, All due to ferrous contamination.

A UK Magnom distributor, Linden Group, installed Magnom products on the main drive lubrication systems to dramatically improve the cleanliness of the circuit. The service life of the oil was greatly increased and, should a bearing begin to fail, the engineers had the reassurance that the Magnom unit would protect the rest of the circuit components from being damaged by the debris 9which was previously the case). Magnom was also installed on all the works’ power packs.
